Sora, a new generative AI model, was just announced by OpenAI. This groundbreaking technology can create videos based on any prompt, no matter how simple or complex, tailored to the curator’s specifications. With such complexity, the primary concern is ensuring the quality and coherence of the generated content—are the videos consistent with real-world models?

If this technology were to fall into the wrong hands, it would be beneficial for the average person to discern whether content is AI-generated. Implementing measures like watermarks or other identifiers could help mitigate misuse. As the presidential elections approach, there’s a looming risk of false videos circulating, potentially deceiving many unsuspecting viewers who may not question their authenticity.

Beyond elections, the ease with which misinformation can spread raises concerns about the accessibility of this technology to the general public. While it may have applications in certain fields, careful consideration should be given to its widespread availability.

My original title: With new technology how will we know what to believe?
I put this into ChatGPT and asked it to make this title more catchy.

I asked ChatGPT to fix and spelling/grammar mistakes on my blog but it actually made more changes than that so I thought I would put my original post down here as well:
Sora, a new generative ai model was just announced by OpenAI. This new technology is able to create a video based on any prompt, as simple or complex as the curator wants. With something as complex as this they need to look at first its quality and second, do things flow the way that they should? Are the videos generated going to be consistent with real world models?
If this technology were able to be misused in the hands of the public I think it would be good if there was some way for the average person to be able to tell that it was AI generated. Whether that is with a watermark or another means. Otherwise, with the presidential elections coming up, I can only assume what false videos will start coming out. The problem is that there are many followers out there who will see one of these videos and not think to question it. Not only in terms of the presidential elections but people could easily spread misinformation about anything they want. I can see where in some fields this technology may be helpful but I think it would be best if it wasn’t readily available by everyone.
